The Detroit Free Press headline today was “He’s the man”. That man being sophomore Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson. In case you don’t care about football and/or have been sleeping under a rock, Robinson had 502 total yards yesterday, 258 of them, rushing. And, he led a comeback against Notre Dame in the final seconds.
You know what he said at his post interview when someone asked if he knew his numbers? He said, “No, I do not…I’m a team player.” I also saw him interviewed on the field right after the win and he was giving the team credit then, too, and saying he just didn’t “know what to say”. Well, I know what to say. Denard, you have a solid corporate voice. You said all the right things for a young player with so much riding on your shoulders. You were composed as you could be after such an emotional game, you were not arrogant and self-promoting, but rather refreshingly honest and team promoting and that solid corporate voice of yours is what got you so much positive mediatude from all the media outlets.
I hope that your teammates can not only follow your leadership completing plays on the field, but can also learn from you how to form their own solid corporate voices and in so doing you and your team will always be winners.
